Essential Information for Guidance Counselors

We are in the business of creating successful members of our shared community.

Oulton College has been offering career training for over 60 years, with a focus on career placement and career success. We go beyond the skills and training expected by employers and provide the guidance and support that students need to set and achieve their goals.

Accreditation

Our programs are accredited by provincial and national associations, as well as university accreditation for some courses. All the specifics can be found in the program information on this site.

Our Grads Are in Demand

We have one of the highest employment success rates in the Atlantic Provinces – over 90% – for all our programs. Employers are impressed that students come out of Oulton College with job-ready certificates, such as CPR/First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, and other industry-recognized certifications.

Sound good so far? Let us tell you more about the student experience at Oulton!

Our Faculty is comprised of seasoned, well-connected professionals dedicated to providing the best possible educational experience. All teaching staff benefit from on-going professional development, guidance counseling, educational mentoring, and coaching.

We are passionate advocates of real-life experience and hands-on learning for our students. We believe our approach – a combination of theoretical and applied learning – produces graduates who are productive on their first day on the job. On top of our teaching methods in the classroom, we connect students with prospective employers through on-the-job training placements integrated into each program.

Students are trained using modern technology available in the current workplace. Not only do our labs recreate real-life experiences and let students practice using the tools and equipment they will need in their chosen field, but computer access at Oulton College is second to none. Computer labs are equipped with all the latest programs and software as well as Wi-Fi. We ensure that every single student has access to a computer during their studies.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements vary by program and can be found on our individual program pages. Our Admissions Advisors will help guide students through the process, explaining the various requirements for each program.

Application Students who are ready to apply should look over our Steps to Admission, as our procedure is a bit more in-depth than most post-secondary institutions. We don’t believe in wasting time, talent, or money and so we meet each prospective student and get to know them in order to help them choose the right path towards their career goals. Once a program is chosen and requirements are met, we guide them along the application process.

We encourage students to apply early, as our programs do fill up quickly.
