What are the Laptop Minimum Requirements for Oulton?

Operating Systems:

• Windows: 11 and 10*
  Includes x86 32 and 64 bit processors, ARM 64 bit processors using x86 emulation including CoPilot+PC devices.
  * Windows 10/11 “S mode” is not a compatible with Oulton College exam software. 
  * Windows 10/11 “SE” is not a compatible with Oulton College exam software. 
  * Windows 10 has reached end of life in October 2025, it is recommended that any new device be equipped with Windows 11.
• Mac: macOS 12.0 to 15.0+.

Memory:

• Windows: 16 GB RAM (A minimum 4gb of available RAM is necessary when using LockDown Browser to take an exam that also uses a webcam.)
• Mac: 16 GB RAM (A minimum 4gb of available RAM is necessary when using LockDown Browser to take an exam that also uses a webcam.)

Hard Disk Space:

• Windows:
  * 512 GB SSD 
  * At least 200 MB of free hard disk space for the Exam software.
• Mac:
  * 512 GB SSD 
  * At least 200 MB of free hard disk space for the Exam software.

Please note:

• Oulton Students have access to student Office license for the period of your study, for Windows computers only (not compatible with Mac (Apple) or Chromebooks). This license will be activated during registration.
• Students who choose to use a  Mac (Apple) or Chromebook device may require a specialized Microsoft 365 software license to support their device. This license must be purchased separately and is not included in program fees.
• Unsupported Mobile & Desktop Operating Systems: LockDown Browser (Software) does not support Android devices (phones or tablets), Windows 10/11 in S Mode / SE Mode, Linux, Mac OS older than 12.0 or generic mobile web browsers.
• Important Note on Chromebook Compatibility:
  Chromebooks running ChromeOS may not support or be compatible with certain third-party educational software, specialty applications, or examination platforms required throughout your program at Oulton College.
